I still often have to stop and scratch my head. Is this really working? Are there really too many
volunteers for an 84 person schedule? Are we really already one year into this movement?
This January 22nd is an important day for the Origin Coffee family. In many ways, much more important
than January 22nd of last year. Last year, Mark and I stood on top of the counter, Mark proclaimed
words of freedom, hope, and fighting. The shop was standing room only. People spilled out into the
side walk. I hopped down from the counter and served drinks for the next four hours before the line
shrunk back inside the door. It was an amazing day. Filled with expectation, hope and resolve. But also
filled with a lingering question, will this actually work?
That is what makes this year’s celebration so unique. It is working. And it is growing more effective.
The Origin Coffee family wants to invite you out to hear all that has happened in year one of a
generational fight against sexual slavery. And there is much to share. This year has blown us away. It
has been more difficult than we expected and more impactful than we had dared to hope.
So come and hear. Take a deep breath, cheer, drink a $2 mocha, and celebrate with us. Then, we will
get back to the selfless sacrifice that is Origin Coffee.

Successful Thinkers Supports Origin! We are so grateful to Origin of Rocklin for allowing Successful Thinkers to facilitate our weekly meetings every Tuesday afternoon. We so much appreciate the volunteers, the food, and your amazing coffee. I have a personal connection, respect & understanding of paying it forward to stop sex trafficking! Origin’s goal is to end woman & children of becoming victims of sex trafficking! To learn is to know, to know is to live, to live is to take action. Please come out this Sunday and celebrate Origin’s first year of service! Origin is ALL about Paying it Forward…..but most importantly, we the ‘Rocklin’ chapters, wants the both of you to know, that are heartfelt prayers are with you during this time of great loss!
As a retired local law enforcement officer, I was brought to tears and had to come to terms with my own disbelief… “Is this organization for real? Is someone finally stepping up to this crime against humanity? In my own community no less? My career focus was sexual assault and child abuse. What we as Americans failed to realize and still many choose not to, is that sex trafficking is not a crisis just happening in foreign countries. This is not an issue of poverty or even of culture. This is an overwhelming heartbreaking reality that we believe involves many of our own AMERICAN missing children. Can you imagine your little girl or rebellious teenager missing forever? Okay… can you imagine her sold to a foreign country and living the rest of her years tortured beyond your imagination? It is so disturbing that even law enforcement felt helpless and we knew it was bigger than jurisdiction. The effort to stop this had to be global yet beginning right here in our own communities.. The big question? Where to start?. ORIGIN is the answer and I am humbled and grateful.
Its hard to sum up in words – describing the feeling that Origin Coffee has reached a one year anniversary, surpassed it, and now here is year two. Happy. Humbled. Awesome. Amazing. THANKFUL.
Tell them we’re coming. Cause we are!!!
